Finn Wolfhard could’ve easily won $50 if he entered the Timothée Chalamet lookalike competition.

In the wake of the viral lookalike contest that took over Washington Square Park last weekend, the Stranger Things star is sharing his experience getting mistaken for the Dune actor.

“When I was in SoHo one time getting into an Uber with some friends, someone else had called an Uber to the same location and it was the same car, so we thought this was our Uber,” Wolfhard, 21, told Us Weekly exclusively while promoting his Great Ghost Search campaign with Ring. “So as we’re getting in, this other group went into the car, and we were like, ‘Oh, sorry that’s your Uber.’ And then one of them looked at me, and he recognized me, and his eyes went wide.”

Getting recognized — especially in New York City — is par for the course for Wolfhard, whose performances in films and TV shows like Stranger ThingsIt and Ghostbusters have generated fans across the country. But this was no ordinary fan encounter.

“I thought, ‘Oh no, he’s gonna recognize me from the show,’” the actor continued. “And he said, ‘Oh, my God. You’re Timothée Chalamet!’ And then I just started laughing with my friends, like, ‘Oh my God, that’s crazy that that just happened.’ It was very funny. I was relieved. I was like, ‘Yes I am!’ It was really funny.”

Both actors certainly share certain features: They’re both just under 6 feet tall, have long, dark, curly hair and a fair complexion. However, Chalamet, 28, is a New York City native — perhaps part of why Wolfhard got recognized there — while the Stranger Things actor is younger and hails from Canada.

Wolfhard is not the only person getting mistaken for Chalamet on the street. On October 27, thousands of fans and Chalamet doppelgängers gathered in the Big Apple for a lookalike contest — and Chalamet himself showed up.

“Honestly, I’m a big Timothée Chalamet fan,” Anthony Po, the YouTuber who organized the event, told Us. “I think the way he moves through the space is really smart, as an influencer myself.”

After Chalamet made an appearance, the crowd became untenable, and Po, 23, received a $500 fine for his lack of a permit. He wasn’t worried, though: Po simply led the crowd to an alternate location at Mercer Playground to crown the winner, a Wonka outfit-clad 21-year-old named Miles Mitchell.

Many of the Twin-othées Us spoke to at the event mentioned Wolfhard, noting that they often get stopped on the street for their resemblance to either actor.
